Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 June 2026

These terms apply to all products and services provided by David Arthur Software, including DuoVox and QuietTime. By downloading, installing, or using any of our products, you agree to these terms.

1. General Terms

1.1 Description of Services

David Arthur Software develops and distributes desktop and mobile applications. Our current products include:

  • DuoVox — Real-time voice transcription and translation for Android and Windows
  • QuietTime — Parental screen time control for Android and Windows

1.2 Acceptance of Terms

By using any of our products, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our products.

1.3 Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of our products after changes are published constitutes acceptance. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

2. DuoVox — Additional Terms

2.1 Free and Paid Versions

DuoVox is currently in active development. At launch, it will be available in two versions:

  • Free — Offline transcription using on-device processing. Includes light banner ads. No account required.
  • Paid — AI-powered online transcription and translation in 51 languages, distributed via Google Play and the Microsoft Store. Final pricing and feature tiers will be announced at launch.

2.2 Important Limitations

DuoVox is an assistive tool only. It is not a certified or human interpretation or translation service, does not replace a qualified human interpreter or translator, and is not a medical device or regulatory-approved for clinical use. Its output is automated and can be wrong, so you must not rely on it as the sole or authoritative source of meaning in any high-stakes situation (medical, legal, safety-critical, financial, immigration, or law-enforcement) — always verify anything important independently.

2.3 Full DuoVox Terms

DuoVox is governed by its own full Terms of Use, which set out its accuracy, liability (including a liability cap), data-protection, billing, and acceptable-use provisions in full. Those terms apply to your use of DuoVox and are available at duovox.net/terms.html; they are also shown in the app when you first launch it.

3. QuietTime — Additional Terms

3.1 Purpose

QuietTime is a parental tool designed to assist with managing screen time. It is not a security product and does not guarantee that device access will be prevented in all circumstances.

3.2 PIN and Recovery Password

You are solely responsible for remembering your PIN and recovery password. If both are lost, the only way to regain access is to clear the app's data or reinstall, which will remove all settings and schedules.

3.3 Data Storage

All QuietTime data — including PINs, recovery passwords, schedules, and activity logs — is stored locally on your device. No data is transmitted to any external server.

3.4 Activity Log

QuietTime records certain events locally, including block period start/end times, overrides, time extensions, and settings changes. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted externally.

3.5 Free and Voluntary Donations

QuietTime is free on the Microsoft Store and (where available) Google Play. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid tiers. All features are available to every user.

The App includes an optional “Buy me a coffee” button that opens an external website (buymeacoffee.com/dasoftware) where users may choose to support development with a voluntary donation. Donations are entirely optional, processed by Buy Me a Coffee under its own terms, and have no effect on access to App features. See our Refunds page for the position on Buy Me a Coffee tips.

4. CCTV Converter — Additional Terms

4.1 Free

CCTV Converter is free on the Microsoft Store. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid tiers. All features are available to every user.

4.2 Offline Operation

CCTV Converter runs entirely on your computer. It has no cloud services, no accounts, no analytics, and no network code of its own. Your footage is read, converted, and written locally and never leaves your device.

4.3 Bundled ffmpeg

CCTV Converter relies on a bundled copy of ffmpeg for video format detection and conversion. ffmpeg is distributed under its own open-source licence (LGPL/GPL); your use of CCTV Converter is also subject to those licence terms.

4.4 Accuracy and Limitations

CCTV Converter detects video formats from signature bytes and converts to standard MP4. It supports Xiongmai IMKH, Dahua DHAV, Hikvision, raw H.264/H.265 and 20+ other formats. Some vendor-specific encrypted formats (for example Hikvision .crypt backups) cannot be decoded by any third-party tool and will be flagged as unconvertible. The optional date/time overlay reads each file's modification timestamp and is provided for convenience; if accurate evidence-grade timestamping is critical, verify the source timestamps independently. Converted, edited, or trimmed output should not be relied upon as the sole forensic or legal record; where footage may be used for insurance, legal, or law-enforcement purposes, always retain and verify the original source files.

4.5 Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use CCTV Converter for any illegal purpose
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the application
  • Redistribute or resell the application
  • Use the application to process footage you do not have a lawful right to access

5. Intellectual Property

All applications, content, designs, and code are the property of David Arthur Software. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the software for personal or business purposes in accordance with these terms.

6. Third-Party Services

Some of our products rely on third-party services for AI processing, advertising, payment processing, and app distribution. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these third-party services.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

All software is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, David Arthur Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising from the use or inability to use our products.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Additional liability terms, including a liability cap, apply to DuoVox and are set out in the DuoVox Terms.

9. Cancellation and Refunds

All paid versions of our apps are sold and billed exclusively through Google Play and the Microsoft Store. We do not take direct payments through our website. Cancellations and refunds are therefore handled by those platforms under their own published policies:

  • Google Play — Refunds are handled according to Google Play's refund policy.
  • Microsoft Store — Refunds are handled according to the Microsoft Store refund policy.

For any paid subscriptions, you may cancel at any time through the platform where you subscribed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. See our Refunds page for more detail, including the position on Buy Me a Coffee tips.

10. Termination

You may stop using our products at any time by uninstalling them. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to our services if these terms are violated.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence; and where the mandatory law of your country of residence requires a version of these Terms in your local language to prevail, that version will prevail in the event of any conflict — otherwise the English version prevails.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms. Where David Arthur Software processes personal data, it does so in accordance with that policy and applicable data-protection law and retains its own data-protection responsibilities. For data-protection queries, contact info@davidarthur.app (for DuoVox, info@duovox.net).
